How to replace an APEX pump

The APEX™ system uses a positive displacement pump and a precisely controlled stepper motor to supply fluid to a Uni-Roller® S2. If the system is not dispensing the correct amount of fluid, follow the “Troubleshooting a Bad Pump” TKB. If this process leads to replacing a bad pump, it is recommended to replace the entire pump assembly. However, under certain circumstances, the pump can be replaced without replacing the entire assembly. Follow these steps to complete the replacement:

Pump Replacement Procedure

  1. Order a new pump from Unist. Part number: 302012.
  2. Remove the guard plate using a 5/32 hex key.
  3. Disconnect the tubes on the top of the pump.
  4. Disconnect the electrical plug on the motor.
  5. Disconnect both M12 connectors from the position sensors.
  6. Remove the socket head cap screws mounting the pump to the mechanical panel using a 3/16 hex key.

  7. Remove the 2 push-to-connect fittings using a 5/64 hex key.
  8. Remove the 2 socket head cap screws from the coupler block using a 7/64 hex key.

  9. Remove the 2 socket head cap screws holding the pump to the mounting block using a 3/16 hex key

  10. Install the new pump by following steps 2-9 in reverse order.
  11. Navigate to the manual control display to home the pump and perform the Runout Pump operation.
  12. Repeat the Runout Pump operation until all air bubbles are removed.
  13. Acknowledge all alarms and resume normal system operation.
