How to adjust the spring tension on Mini-Roller® HD.
The torsion springs apply downward force to the upper roller assembly. Adjusting them changes the pressure between the rollers, which directly affects fluid application.
- Increase spring rate (more pressure):
Ensures rollers stay in firm contact with the stock → more consistent coating.
Useful if fluid coverage is uneven or rollers aren’t contacting properly. Decrease spring rate (less pressure):
Reduces roller force → prevents excess fluid or damage to thin stock.
Useful if rollers are binding, stock is delicate, or fluid is pooling- Locate the torsion springs
Each spring coil is held by a shoulder bolt. One leg rests on the sheet metal frame, the other between the adjustment bolt and end plate.- To increase roller pressure
- Move the shoulder bolt and torsion spring up to the next threaded hole.
- Reseat the spring leg behind the bolt head.
- Do this on both sides to keep pressure uniform.
- To decrease roller pressure
- Move the shoulder bolt and torsion spring down to the next threaded hole.
- Again, adjust both sides equally.
- Verify uniformity
- Springs must be adjusted the same on both sides.
- Unequal adjustment = uneven fluid application across the stock
